Date: March 6th, 2023. Location: Zagreb, Croatia Participants: K-12 Students and their teachers participating in the Erasmus M-learning project mobility from 5 countries: Germany, France, Spain, Sweden, and Croatia

Overview: The Learn Words in a New Language workshop was organized as part of the activities of the Erasmus M-learning project during mobility in Zagreb, aimed to enhance language learning skills through the utilization of digital tools. The workshop brought together students and teachers from Germany, France, Spain, Sweden, and Croatia to explore vocabulary and language translation using Google lessons Applied Digital Skills content.

Workshop Activities: The workshop commenced with an introduction to the significance of language learning in the context of multicultural collaboration and understanding. Participants were provided access to the Applied Digital Skills content titled “Learn Words in a New Language.”

Objectives: The workshop aimed to achieve the following objectives:

• Use the Google Translate function in Google Sheets to translate words across languages.
• Learn pronunciation through the Google Translate web tool.
• Create vocabulary flashcards using digital tools.

Essential Question: The central inquiry driving the workshop was: “How can I use digital tools to help learn and study vocabulary in a new language?”

Enduring Understandings: Throughout the workshop, participants internalized the following understandings:

• Google Translate serves as a starting point for learning new language words but should not replace native speakers, language teachers, or dictionaries.
• Digital tools offer a foundational grasp of new languages.
• Flashcards prove to be a valuable resource for learning and studying vocabulary.
